From the Tumuaki’s Table – Term 4, Week 4, 2023

October 31, 2023

Kia ora Whānau,

As term 4 flies by we are well into planning term one, 2024! Teachers are starting to write reports for the end of the year whilst looking at class placements for next year.

This week I want to say congratulations to two teams of our senior students (Greta, James, Robbie, Kewene, Emma, Amelia, Charlotte, and Jamie) who came first equal in the recent Robocup Junior Self-Driving Challenge Competition. The children had to programme a robot to use colour or light sensors to follow a line to a designated rescue area. The robot arrives at a green-coloured area indicating the chemical spill where the rescue of the victim should take place. The robot should then locate the victim in the rescue area and push it to safety using a selection of tiles. The robot that rescues the victim in the fastest time wins the competition. Congrats to their coach Whaea Sally too!

I want to thank our amazing and dedicated Friends of School team who are really making a difference at the school. They provide funds for so many wonderful opportunities for all tamariki. The Icecream Fridays have been a big hit on the social calendar! The next fundraiser is one not to be missed and supported. Check out the Colour Run Guide https://youtu.be/EsMwokVaD9w

With just 12 days to go, the excitement is building, and we’re confident that the 2023 KSS Colour Run will be a resounding success on the day. The current long-range forecast has the weather being sunny and a high of 21 degrees. Get some support and donate online here. The first family to email will get a $20 donation from me.

See you all next Friday – white shirts on!

Matua Mike
