Kia ora whānau,

Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope the new year has been kind to you so far and that you have already ticked one of your new year’s resolutions off the list. My family and I spent 10 days in the sunshine at Lake Brunner enjoying a relaxed pace of life after a hectic term 4. It is so important to take the time to just stop and reset after such a tough year of illness and disruption.

The new ‘flag mural’ has been mostly erected over the break by Matua Ross and Murray. These flags were painted by the children and represent the beautiful cultural diversity of our school. We have such a connected and caring community that respects each other as we share commonalities and respect our cultural differences. Let this be a symbol that everyone is welcome at Knights Stream School | Mingimingi Hautoa – this is your place!

The Stage 2 – Ōwaka build is tracking well and all going to plan we will have a blessing and opening at the end of the term. This will be an opportunity for all families to come and celebrate and end the term on a special note. The Gaga dodgeball pit is finally complete thanks to Southbase Construction for completing the concrete footer this week.

The Tari Office will be open for most mornings this week. We welcome Sarah Ritchie to the admin team. Sarah will be in the office from 9 am – 11.30 am. To confirm a time with the office please email office@knightsstream.schoo.nz

All term dates can be found on the school website. Please make sure you plan school events in your diaries! We are looking forward to starting a year without COVID restrictions!

We welcome 7 new teachers and 5 teacher aides to the team in 2023. A warm welcome to all the new families that start on day one.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 30 January! School starts at 8.50 am.

Matua Mike
