Kia ora whānau!
I am very excited to be back after a term away from KSS. I have had the most fantastic time for new learning about what practices schools undertake to ensure children’s culture is not left at the gate. I have completed my report and hope to share this with other principals and schools. I thank Anna Ashby for acting on my behalf and all the other staff members that had to step into new roles whilst I was on sabbatical.
I was also able to spend some quality time with my own family on a trip to Australia and Wānaka. I had time to make school lunches, help around the house more and even know not to put the coloured washing in with the whites! I also had time to read some books for leisure and reconnect with old friends that I had not seen since COVID started. I am glad to see that we are out of restrictions and can move on with more normality in our daily lives.
This term the curriculum focuses on Sexuality Education – Navigating the Journey and Keeping Ourselves Safe, Cultural Connections and Celebrations, and athletics to name a few! Our Stage 2 build Ōwaka is progressing well with framing up this week! How exciting to have another 11 teaching spaces opening up next year.
There are a number of new children and families that I look forward to meeting for the first time. Welcome again and please say hello at the gate! Welcome to our New Entrant Cohort 7 who start next week.
See you all Monday.
