The new school year is coming up fast – we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 5 February.
Welcome back to all our whānau and a special welcome to those joining us in 2020. I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable summer break. The holiday season always seems to fly by and before you know it it is new shoes, uniform and haircut season!
Please check that your uniforms are all up to date and that all hats are black buckets. All undergarments are also to be black. Shoes and socks – please yourself!
This year we will start on approximately 180 students, almost up 100 on last years opening day of 89. To allow for this increase the Year 5-8 team are occupying the closest end of Ōtūmatua (and get to name their new space), the Year 3 and 4 team move to Paretai and the Year 2 team to Hawai. This means the new entrants and Year 1 team have the whole of Pūrekireki to themselves!
Stationery lists are available through the OfficeMax Back to School online ordering system. New entrant and Year 1 packs are only available through the office (children who are Year 1 this year will not need to purchase another stationery pack if one was purchased in 2019).
The office is open before school on:
29 January 9am – 3pm
3 and 4 February 9am – 3pm
On the first day back we will be holding our Mihi Whakatau to welcome all the new tamariki and their whānau at 9.15am in the Wharehui. You are all welcome to join us for this occasion. Please RSVP to Sue in the office.
Friday 7 February is the School Picnic Night. This is a casual BYO dinner. We encourage all families to bring dinner down to school (picnic, pizza, fish n’ chips etc) and have a play. The Friends of the School have organised bouncy castles and ice blocks for all the children and their siblings. Feel free to bring the bikes and scooters too!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to make contact with your child’s kaiako (teacher), the Office or the Leadership Team.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Ngā mihi
Mike
