Stage 2 Build

With the rapid growth in the area and our continually increasing school roll, the build of our new block encompassing 11 teaching spaces is underway.

This second stage was originally outlined in the master plan and planning for this began in 2021.  The Senior Leadership team has worked closely with the Ministry of Education, architects from Stephenson & Turner NZ Limited, and Southbase Construction throughout the planning process.

Our new block is called Ōwaka – the māori name used for a waka portage.  This fits with our school’s rich cultural narrative that reflects the local area.

The design of the spaces is based on our current design of Ōpouria and Ōtūmatua with some modifications and improvements.  Larger maker spaces (waihanga) and breakouts (kāpeka), a three-metre verandah that incorporates the COLA (covered outdoor learning area), and more storage for resources are included in this design.  The new build will look and feel the same as the existing buildings and will tie in with the landscaping.  An additional hard court and new adventure playground have been incorporated into the plans.
