Please take a moment read the board news and to give your feedback…its important

From the Boardroom

As winter sets in and we approach the shortest day of the year, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect on the year so far. It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the halfway point of the school year! We’re proud of all that has been achieved so far and grateful for the ongoing support from our school community.

This time of year also brings an important event in the life of our school—the upcoming board elections. Serving on the board is a meaningful way to contribute to the direction and success of our school, and we warmly encourage parents, caregivers, and whānau to consider standing. It is a rewarding role where you can help shape school priorities, support student achievement, and represent the voice of our community.

In New Zealand, the school board is responsible for the governance of the school. This includes setting the strategic direction, approving policies, overseeing financial and property matters, and ensuring every student is supported to reach their full potential. You don’t need to be an education expert to serve on the board—just someone who is committed, thoughtful, and willing to work collaboratively for the benefit of our school.

To help anyone interested in learning more about the role and the election process, the board will be hosting two upcoming information evenings: Tuesday 15 July and Monday 21 July. Depending on interest, we may also offer an after-school session. Please keep an eye on Hero for confirmed dates and times.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all the families who have contributed school donations this year. While optional in New Zealand, donations make a significant impact on the quality of resources and support we can offer.

These funds help provide teacher aides to support classroom learning and one-on-one student assistance, as well as additional tools such as iPads and other technology to enrich our students’ educational experiences.

Although the Ministry of Education provides essential funding, the board also funds a wide range of additional initiatives that enhance learning and wellbeing across the school. Every donation—big or small—helps, and we are sincerely grateful for your generosity.

On behalf of the school board, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
