Attendance at Knights Stream School

At Mingimingi Hautoa | Knights Stream School, we recognise that regular attendance is an enabler for the success, wellbeing, and positive outcomes of our tamariki. Attending school every day builds strong foundations for learning and social development, allowing students to consistently build upon their progress.

Our Attendance Management Plan is designed to proactively support student engagement and align with the Aotearoa New Zealand government’s national target of 80% of students attending school at least 90% of the time. To achieve this level of continued success, we aim for students to be absent for no more than one day per fortnight.

Through our Stepped Attendance Response (STAR) framework, we provide a consistent approach to monitoring and support:

  • Early Intervention using data-based thresholds to identify and support students early if attendance concerns arise.
  • Collaborative Partnerships prioritise effective communication between the school and whānau to address barriers to attendance.
  • Structured Support ensures all tamariki have the opportunity to thrive through a stepped response ranging from universal support through to intensive support including a multi-agency response.
